CHRISTMAS STAMPATHON 2019 - Stamp a Background

Welcome to the second Christmas Stampathon for 2019.

This months' theme is - STAMP A BACKGROUND

We love to make the most of our stamp sets, after all that's what we buy them. One fun way of using your stamps is to create a fun background for your projects. So in that spirit, we bring you this months theme of "stamp a background".

Using the Star of Light stamp set I have created these 4 fun fold cards. I have used images from this set on Whisper White card to create a background and used it the same way we would Designer Series Paper.

I made these cards a little different by cutting the card stock on the diagonal. For more details on how to create this fold, take a look at my YouTube video.

The die cut star is from the Starlight thinlits, which I have then added some sparkle with the clear Wink of Stella brush.

The Christmas Stampathon is a collaboration between four international Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends. CHRISTMAS STAMPATHON 2019 - Frugal Crafting

Welcome to the first Christmas Stampathon for 2019.

This months' theme is - FRUGAL CRAFTING

Frugal crafting means keeping the cost of the project low. This can be done in a variety of ways including recycling, up-cycling, using scraps or keeping product use to a minimum. For my project this month, I choose the last option of using very little supplies to create my cards.

To create the card I used a masking technique with a sticky note to provide some white space on the card front for the sentiment.

It is amazing what you can achieve by simply using stamp, inks and paper.

QUICK CARD WITH SCRAPS

Today I am sharing a super quick and easy Christmas card which uses some scraps that were sitting on my desk from another project. 

I love using up all the pieces of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) and making the most of the resources I have.  Cutting shapes out of your DSP to create themed images is a simple way to produce or even mass-produce cards for a particular occasion. 

The Under The Mistletoe DSP is on page 189 of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue. The paper in this pack is a mix of pine cone, poinsettia, and plaid designs, with some Christmas images thrown in. So it contains a good variety of themes within the one pack.

The sentiment I chose to add is from the Merry Christmas to All. It is a combination of "from us" & "to you". I have found this stamp set very useful as I have a choice of large phrases or smaller ones, that can be combined which makes it a very flexible set.

To ground the trees and separate the them from the sentiment I put a strip of Shaded Spruce card stock on the card.

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE STAMP-A-THON 2018 - POP UP/3D CARDS

Welcome to the latest Christmas Challenge Stamp-a-thon.  This is a collaboration between four Stampin' Up! Demonstrators friends. Ruth Trice 'Artful Stampin' from the UK, Denise Garrison 'Lady Bug Stampin' from USA, Ellen Woodbridge from Australia and myself. . The Challenge is set on the 25th of the month, each month has a different theme. The challenge this month is to make at least 4 Pop-up/3D cards.

These type of cards can be heaps of fun to make and even more exciting to receive as they are much more than just the standard card. The choices of styles are endless. This month I choose to make Pop-up Exploding cards. These cards are relatively simple to create but also give the card a WOW factor.

I combined the Joyous Noel Speciality Designer Series Paper, the Peaceful Noel stamp set and the Merry Christmas thinlit dies, which are all from the 2018 Holiday Catalogue.

2018 HOLIDAY CATALOGUE IS NOW LIVE!!!!

The wait is over. I'm guessing at this point you have seen a lot of sneak peeks from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday catalogue.

So in answer to your questions, Yes - it is amazing! Yes - there are lots of cute sets, serious set, traditional and non-traditional. Christmas and non Christmas. Something for everyone. No - I have not bought the whole catalogue but very tempted to put another order in.

New stamp sets, new Designer Series Paper, new embellishments and even a new tool.

As I am sure you can tell if you are a regular reader of my blog, I love Christmas and Christmas crafting. For me, it is the time of the year where I give out the most amounts of cards and like to make personal hand made gifts, so I always look forward to the Holiday Catalogue and new products to play with.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM AUSTRALIA

When we purchase a stamp set we often don't notice their full protentional. We sometimes can't think past that one set and what we can do with those elements. It is a good idea to remember all those other sets that are sitting in our stash. Combining sets is a wonderful way to stretch our crafting dollar further.



As soon as I saw the kangaroo in the Animal Outing stamp set in the Annual Catalogue I knew I wanted to use it in my Christmas crafting. Then once I saw the new holiday catalogue (one of the perks of being a demonstrator is seeing the catalogues early) and noticed the So Santa set with a perfect size Santa hat.




The kangaroo is the star of the show, so I kept the design for this card very simple. Check out just how quick this card is to put together. And don't forget to subscribe to my channel.

There are so many different ways that we can colour our stamped images. We can water colour, use a blender pen, use Blends (Stampin' Up!s alcohol markers) or use Stampin' Write markers (these use the same ink as our ink pads). Use whatever you are comfortable with. I coloured the kangaroo with Blends, and the hat and presents were coloured with Stampin' Write markers.



Another thing to remember is that often non-Christmas Designer Series Paper is often very suitable to use on Christmas projects. For this card I used a piece of DSP from Tropical Escape set.

STAMPIN' DREAMS BLOG HOP - HOLIDAY CATALOGUE SNEAK PEEK

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. This month's theme is Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek.

One of my favourite (& there are lots of them) products in the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, which goes live for customers on the 5th September, is the chicken wire elements. I knew I had to incorporate this in my first holiday catalogue project. 

In this card I have combined Night of Navy card stock with touches of silver in both the chicken wire and also the clear faceted gems. I used a swirl stamp from Merry Christmas To All stamp set, to create the background and a large sentiment from the same set as the focal point.

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE STAMPATHON 2018 - SKETCH

Welcome to the latest Christmas Challenge Stamp-a-thon.  This is a collaboration between four Stampin' Up! Demonstrators friends. Ruth Trice 'Artful Stampin' from the UK, Denise Garrison 'Lady Bug Stampin' from USA, Ellen Woodbridge from Australia and myself. . The Challenge is set on the 25th of the month, each month has a different theme. The challenge this month is to use the sketch to make at least 4 Christmas Cards.

When we use a sketch the shapes are not set in concrete, which means you are able to take the image of a circle and use a square, love heart or any other shape that works for your card. It is the same for the spacings, you may want more of the background colour poking through or less. Sketches can often help to guide us in creating.

To make my cards for this month Challenge I’ve used a piece of paper from Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper. I love the fact that the paper has two sides with different images, so I was able to flip one of my strips and have two different patterns on the cards.

SPARKLE AND SHINE - CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE STAMPATHON 2018

Welcome to the forth Christmas Challenge Stampathon. This month the theme is "Sparkle and Shine". Use foil, embossing or any other form of sparkle or shine to your Christmas crafting project.

This months challenge runs from 25th May until the 24th June.

This time I decided to make some corner fold cards using the Star of Light stamp set and the Starlight thinlits. 

Corner cards look very effective but are actually very easy to make. I have made a YouTube video to show you how simple they are. 

For added sparkle and shine I used silver foil paper and silver heat embossing to add that extra Christmas glitz to the cards.
