CHRISTMAS STAMPATHON 2019 - Stamp a Background

Welcome to the second Christmas Stampathon for 2019.

This months' theme is - STAMP A BACKGROUND

We love to make the most of our stamp sets, after all that's what we buy them. One fun way of using your stamps is to create a fun background for your projects. So in that spirit, we bring you this months theme of "stamp a background".

Using the Star of Light stamp set I have created these 4 fun fold cards. I have used images from this set on Whisper White card to create a background and used it the same way we would Designer Series Paper.

I made these cards a little different by cutting the card stock on the diagonal. For more details on how to create this fold, take a look at my YouTube video.

The die cut star is from the Starlight thinlits, which I have then added some sparkle with the clear Wink of Stella brush.

The Christmas Stampathon is a collaboration between four international Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends. Ruth Trice from the UK, Denise Garrison from the US, Ellen Woodbridge and myself, Rosalie Desmond from Australia. The challenge is set on the 25th of each month (January- October) and entries are accepted until11pm on the 24th of the following month, either via the group Face Book page or directly to one of the demonstrators. Everyone is welcome to join the challenge.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT CLASS

Thought I would share some pictures from the Christmas crafting day I had on the weekend. Someone did forget to take pictures throughout the day, so I just have the before pictures to share with you. Over the next couple of weeks I will share some of the projects in more detail with you.

When I run a full day class I like to have all the items needed and the sample project in the one basket, so an attendee can just grab the basket. sit at their seat and where possible not have to hunt for the correct colour ink or stamp set. Sometimes there is a little cross over, where two projects use the same punch or set but I do try to keep this to a minimum.

I like to provide my participants with a bag which includes a little surprise inside (this time is was some 6"x6" samples of DSP) and a small table gift. The bag comes in handy later to store all of their projects, making it easy to take home.

At my day long events, I also have a door prize. The name of all people in attendance are placed into a bowl and a winner is chosen at random. This was the prize for this event.

INK & INSPIRATION _ CHRISTMAS TIME AGAIN!

Welcome to this months Ink & Inspiration blog hop. This month's theme is Christmas Time Again!

This month I purchased some new products - the Treat Time Stamp Set and Pettie Treat Framelits, so I decided to use the framelits for the first time and create a cute little treat package for Christmas.

To create a Christmas themed project I used the All Is Bright DSP from the 2018 Holiday Catalogue and the Better Together Stamp Set from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue. The Better Together Stamp Set combines sentiments and small images for a number of occasions into the one set. Sympathy, New Baby, Weddings, Hello and Christmas, are just a few of the topics covered. It is a versatile set and the sentiments can be mixed in with other stamp sets to broaden there use as well.

The tag is made using a framelit from the Pettie Treat set and a 1 3/4" circle punch. I used gold mini sequin trim to add a little sparkle and the 1/8" Real Red Solid ribbon to attach the tag to the treat package.

These sour cream style packages are easy and quick to make as you can see from the video below and makes a fun addition to any Christmas table or just to package small gifts for family and friends.

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE STAMP-A-THON 2018 - CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Welcome to the latest Christmas Challenge Stamp-a-thon.  This is a collaboration between four Stampin' Up! Demonstrators friends. Ruth Trice 'Artful Stampin' from the UK, Denise Garrison 'Lady Bug Stampin' from USA, Ellen Woodbridge from Australia and myself. . The Challenge is set on the 25th of the month, each month has a different theme. The challenge this month is to make at least 4 Christmas decorations.

What a perfect opportunity to create some personalised decorations for either your house or your Christmas tree. I found this challenge, a real challenge. Not because it was too difficult but because I had so many ideas of possibilities running through my brain.

For this challenge I have decided to make an ornament for my tree (which doesn't go up until December 1st in our house). Thinking of decorations is means that Christmas is not far off now.

The ornament is created from two rosettes which were made by using strips of All Is Bright Designer Series Paper. A pearlized doilie and a good foiled reindeer cut out using the Detailed Deer Thinlit dies, complete the decoration.

These Christmas decorations are fun to make. It's hard to stop with just one. Lucky I had to make 4 for the challenge :)

2018 HOLIDAY CATALOGUE IS NOW LIVE!!!!

The wait is over. I'm guessing at this point you have seen a lot of sneak peeks from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday catalogue.

So in answer to your questions, Yes - it is amazing! Yes - there are lots of cute sets, serious set, traditional and non-traditional. Christmas and non Christmas. Something for everyone. No - I have not bought the whole catalogue but very tempted to put another order in.

New stamp sets, new Designer Series Paper, new embellishments and even a new tool.

As I am sure you can tell if you are a regular reader of my blog, I love Christmas and Christmas crafting. For me, it is the time of the year where I give out the most amounts of cards and like to make personal hand made gifts, so I always look forward to the Holiday Catalogue and new products to play with.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM AUSTRALIA

When we purchase a stamp set we often don't notice their full protentional. We sometimes can't think past that one set and what we can do with those elements. It is a good idea to remember all those other sets that are sitting in our stash. Combining sets is a wonderful way to stretch our crafting dollar further.



As soon as I saw the kangaroo in the Animal Outing stamp set in the Annual Catalogue I knew I wanted to use it in my Christmas crafting. Then once I saw the new holiday catalogue (one of the perks of being a demonstrator is seeing the catalogues early) and noticed the So Santa set with a perfect size Santa hat.




The kangaroo is the star of the show, so I kept the design for this card very simple. Check out just how quick this card is to put together. And don't forget to subscribe to my channel.

There are so many different ways that we can colour our stamped images. We can water colour, use a blender pen, use Blends (Stampin' Up!s alcohol markers) or use Stampin' Write markers (these use the same ink as our ink pads). Use whatever you are comfortable with. I coloured the kangaroo with Blends, and the hat and presents were coloured with Stampin' Write markers.



Another thing to remember is that often non-Christmas Designer Series Paper is often very suitable to use on Christmas projects. For this card I used a piece of DSP from Tropical Escape set.

INK & INSPIRATION BLOG HOP - HOILDAY CATTY SNEAK PEEEK

This month I have decided to make some Christmas gift boxes. 

For this project I am giving you a sneak peak of the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper and the Peaceful Noel Stamp Set. As a bonus, I have also used Merry Merlot & Copper Reversible Ribbon. This ribbon is amazing!

The copper elements on this paper pack is a stand out. It was a perfect combination with the reversible ribbon and the copper embossing powder.

CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE STAMPATON 2018 - TEXTURE

Welcome to the latest Christmas Challenge Stamp-a-thon.  This is a collaboration between four Stampin' Up! Demonstrators friends. Ruth Trice 'Artful Stampin' from the UK, Denise Garrison 'Lady Bug Stampin' from USA, Ellen Woodbridge from Australia and myself. . The Challenge is set on the 25th of the month, each month has a different theme. The challenge this month is to make at least 4 Christmas Cards or projects using the current theme - TEXTURE .

This month I was inspired to create these cards. 

Sometimes it is nice to use a non occasion specific stamp sets for Christmas. I had fun playing with the Bubble Over stamp set and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings set. 

For the "texture" in my creations I have used Shimmery White embossing paste, using a bubble template that I created using the bubble component of the matching dies. To add further texture and to finish off the card I added some Silver metallic thread.
