CHRISTMAS STAMPATHON 2019 - Frugal Crafting

Welcome to the first Christmas Stampathon for 2019.

This months' theme is - FRUGAL CRAFTING

Frugal crafting means keeping the cost of the project low. This can be done in a variety of ways including recycling, up-cycling, using scraps or keeping product use to a minimum. For my project this month, I choose the last option of using very little supplies to create my cards.

To create the card I used a masking technique with a sticky note to provide some white space on the card front for the sentiment.

It is amazing what you can achieve by simply using stamp, inks and paper.

The Christmas Stampathon 2019 is a collaboration between four international Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends. Ruth Trice from the UK, Denise Garrison from the US, Ellen Woodbridge and myself, Rosalie Desmond from Australia. The challenge is set on the 25th of each month (January- October) and entries are accepted until 11pm on the 24th of the following month, either via the group Face Book page or directly to one of the demonstrators. INK & INSPIRATION BLOG HOP - HALLOWEEN/FALL

Welcome to the monthly Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop. This month's theme is Halloween/Fall.

This month's theme has given me the opportunity to use the Rooted in Nature stamp set. By using Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Daffodil Delight I bought the Fall theme to my card.

I decided that I wanted to make a fun fold card for today's project, but also wanted to keep it simple. I cut a standard type of card base using half an A4 sheet of paper. I then grabbed the trimmer and made a diagonal cut in the front to create and interesting shape. For visual details of how to do this see the YouTube video below.

Using the square thinlit dies, a frame was created to boarder the main image of the card.

I added some stamped leave images on both the card front and also the inside piece of cardstock to add some extra interest and texture.

CRAZY CRAFTERS BLOG HOP WITH JENNY HALL

Welcome once again to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. This time we are CASEing (Copying And Selectively Editing) any project that has been created by Jenny Hall. Thank you for joining us today Jenny. We hope that you find today's blog hop inspiring.

I was inspired to create this card for our hop today.

I love Jenny's projects and it was hard to choose just one to CASE, but this is where my inspiration came from.

I used the Sheet Music stamp set on the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper with Fresh Fig ink to create a tone on tone background in the same way that Jenny used on her card. I love how tone on tone gives extra texture to the DSP, adding more interest to the card.

I then used the Petal Palette stamp set to create the main focal point of the rose in the corner of the card. The white embossed sentiment also came from this stamp set.

I added some shimmer paint to rubbing alcohol and sprayed it on the flowers to give a little shine.

INK & INSPIRATION - TECHNIQUE SAVVY

Welcome to the latest Ink and Inspiration blog hop. You are currently visiting Rosalie Desmond from AUSTRALIA. I hope you enjoy this months projects. Our theme for this month is - technique savvy. This will give you an opportunity to check out some interesting techniques.

I don't just have one favourite technique but many which I love, so it took awhile to decide which one I was going to share with you this time. I settled on a technique that I often use - Emboss Resist. 

Today's card was made for a very special little girl that was born a few weeks ago and I will be meeting for the first time tomorrow, my great niece, Chole. 

Emboss resist works with any colour but the white embossed stamped images have more of a pop when you use stronger or darker colours. As I was making the card with a little girl in mind I choose to add some pink with Melon Mambo, and knew I wanted some blue for the night sky, choosing Blueberry Bushel. The third colour, I took a little time deciding as I didn't want to stick to pink or blue shades, and chose the orange of the Grapefruit Grove.

For the sentiment on the front of the card I chose Grapefruit Grove but Melon Mambo would of worked equally well.

Polished Stone Technique

Every now and then I like to have a play with a new technique. There is actually nothing new about the technique I have used today but it is a first for me.

The polished stone technique uses rubbing alcohol and reinkers on glossy paper to make fun and interesting backgrounds. One of the things I love about this technique is that each time you do it, it works out a little differently.

This card uses Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst reinker to create the background and the Beautiful Day Stamp set for the images and sentiment.

BROADWAY BIRTHDAY - masking using a DIY template

Birthdays are always fun, so why not have fun with making birthday cards.

For these cards I had some fun making my own boarder template. I made the template using the envelope punch board (see the video to see how).

Combining this fun masking technique with sponge daubers is an easy way to make your cards unique.

Broadway Birthday stamp set and the Broadway Lights framelits were used to create the images.

INK & INSPIRATION BLOG HOP - WATERCOLOUR

Today I am participating in the Ink & Inspiration Design Team Blog Hop. This months theme is : Watercolour. You are currently visiting Rosalie Desmond from Australia. 

I used some glossy paper with some reinkers and Aqua painters to create a background. I wanted the colours to remain true, so I allowed the background to dry naturally. This process can be sped by using a heat gun on number 1, however, it does change the colour a little.

I then used stamps from Butterfly Basics in Black  Memento. The sentiment "hello" is from the Flourishing Phrases. As a final touch, I brushed on some wink of stella to the cut out butterfly image.

Thick Whisper White Card Base 29.6 x 10.5cm, scored at 14.8cm
Basic Black Layer 14.3 x 9.5cm
Glossy Paper 13.8 x 9cm

RETIFORM SCRAPBOOKING

Sometimes we have a photo that screams to be made into a pretty scrapbooking page. I have always loved this picture. It was the first family picture after our daughter was born - almost 12 years ago.

For this page I have used a technique called retiform. To create the panels I used Crumb Cake to give the boarders of each segment. I then used random stamps from Beautiful Bouquet in create the background 12"x12", using Perfect Plum, Lemon Lime Twist and Flirty Flamingo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH RETIFORM

I was first introduced to the Retiform technique by a lovely friend, Vicki. I decided that I needed to check out this great looking technique after seeing her lovely card. In between seeing Vicki's creation and me finally getting around to it, I have now seen it pop up everywhere on the internet.

Here is what I came up with using the Beautiful Bouquet.

I love how these colours work together.

Add a little sentiment, in this case from the same stamp set- Beautiful Bouquet and some enamel shapes, and its done.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 13th Wedding Anniversary. It's been a day of fun, surprises, pretty flowers and its not over yet.

This is the card that I made for my husband.

A lovely lady by the name of Rosalie Young, reminded me this morning of a technique I had used last year called Joseph Coat. So that got me thinking, I can use this technique with Designer Series Paper.

I used Blooms and Wishes Designer Series Paper as my base and then clear embossed images from the Moroccan Nights stamp set. I then wiped the paper directly on the Emerald Envy ink pad and cover the piece of DSP with the ink. I then wiped the excess ink off with a tissue.

The designer paper was then matted on Island Indigo with a card base of Tempting Turquoise. "Happy" is from the Hello You thinlits and  cut out on the Big Shot. The "you are my" stamp is from the Sunshine Sayings set, using Island Indigo ink.

BLEACHING TECHNIQUE with SO VERY MUCH & HEY, CHICK

Last week I had major computer problems and my computer would not respond at all. My brother-in-law came to the rescue (thinking about it now, I should of made him a super hero card). So I made him this thank you card using the So Very Much & Hey, Chick stamp sets from the 2017 Sale-a-Bration  Catalogue.

I had to make it a little special inside the card as well.

I used the bleaching technique for the chicks body and also the egg inside the card. To colour the chicken hair I used a combination of bleach, chocolate chip, and crumb cake.

Kind Butterfly - Watercolour Wings

I have been getting some great feedback lately regarding the cards I have been making using the Irresistibly Floral Designer Series Paper. It appears that many of you have like the paper as much as I do.

Today I teamed up the Irresistibly Floral paper with the Watercolour Wings stamp set.

The four step stamping in the butterfly makes for a beautiful multi-coloured butterfly, just like the real thing. If you haven't used this stamp set before, don't stress, it is easy to use as it is photopolymer so you can see through to line up. It is also very forgiving if it is not lined up perfectly.

A number of people have asked about how I colour the paper, so I thought I would make a YouTube video to show you just how easy it is.
