Washi Wednesday #1

Happy Wednesday!

I have had a lot of people asking me "how do I use Washi tape?", so over the next few weeks I will do some Washi Wednesday blog posts to give you some ideas to get you started.

Now I must admit I rarely think of using washi. With so many fun products to choose from, it doesn't surprise me that something is forgotten. Washi is a low tack tape and it is so easy to use. It is a quick and simple way to add that little something to any project or home décor.

Today I am going to use Moroccan Designer Washi Tape.

Moroccan Designer Washi Tape  (141647)

I have decided for the first project in my series on using washi tape I would make a card. I chose to use the washi as a way to decorate one of the elements.

Firstly I started by putting some washi on some whisper white cardstock.

Then I cut out my image. In this case it was the wreath from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.

I then used this element on my card by popping it, using dimensionals and adding a sentiment.

Nice, quick and simple.

I love the way this card turned out. It was so quick and easy to put together. You can use the same simple technique and cut out whatever shape that suits your needs. Always remember that framelits are just shapes. This set was designed to be used for Christmas, but there is nothing to say that you can't find other uses for them, like I have here. In a very similar way, the stamp set I choose to use is aimed for "birthdays" but I have used it to make a card that can be used to celebrate any occasion.

Thank you for stopping by. Looking forward to next Wednesday to see what other uses we can find for our Washi.

Product Highlight- Stylish Stems Framelit Dies

I own a fair amount of Stampin' Up! products as you would expect, but I do not own everything. Well not yet anyway!

This little gem I had over looked, well sort of anyway. The first thing I thought was "Who needs another flower die??", then I moved on. That is until now! I've just seen the Stampin' Up! product video on this set. It has now moved from the "why both" list to my wish list. I had better get selling...

Here is the video which I would like to share with you today.

I wonder if it might creep up on your list after you check it out? Here are some examples made by Stampin' Up!

Pretty cute if you ask me. Personally I love the use of the negative image on cards.

SHAKE THAT HAMMER!!!

After the fun making yesterdays shaker card for the Global Design Project I decided to give it another go today. This time instead of using the hexagon shaped framelit from the Build It Framelits for my shaker space I decided to use tool shapes from the same set.

As the tool shapes were smaller than the hexagon I needed to have a few smaller shaker pieces. I stamped the screw heads and tacks on to some cardstock and then fussy cut (cut them out by hand)them.

I then added a few stars from Metallic Enamel Shapes (141678).

Thank you for stopping by,
Rosalie

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop - Thoughtful Branches

In celebration of a limited release stamp and framelit set, Thoughtful Branches, the Crazy Crafters  we are having a special blog hop dedicated to this bundle.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Rosalie Desmond or may have come from the person previous to me.  Be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

I really enjoyed having a play with these images. This set is fun, versatile and easy to use. Today I have two examples to share with you.

This first card uses two of the framelits from the set, cut out in Whisper White. The flower cut out is placed on top of a metallic foil doily, to give it a little pop. The second cut out is in the shape of the stem with a leaf either side.

The sentiment "thank you" is from the thoughtful branches stamp set.

For this second card I also kept things nice and simple. I used the tree trunk cut out in Whisper White and Basic Black, and the "You're in my thoughts" sentiment from the stamp set.

This time I used a Tempting Turquoise card base to add a little colour.

The Thoughtful Branches bundle is very versatile. The images of trees, birds, flower, and the amazing sentiments would be a great addition to any crafting collection. This exclusive limited-time bundle is only available until 31 August or until stocks last.

Using a sketch to create

So I decided  I would try something new - a sketch challenge.

I've seen sketches for cards and scapbooking pages all over Pintrest, but had never given one a go before. This was my first time following a sketch and my first time doing a challenge.

This was the Art with Heart creative team challenge. Here was the sketch I followed.

Loving the butterfly

Today I needed a quick card at the last minute. The kids have not long started back at school and life still seems to be crazy busy, so a quick but pretty card was needed.

This card uses the Butterfly Basics stamp set which is one of my favourites out of the 2015 Occasions catalogue. The ferns were stamped with old olive, three times without reinking. I love this technique. It allows one ink pad to make so many different shades.

The Crazy Crafters Blog Hop - Celebrating Love

Valentine's Day is in less than a week, so what would be more fitting than Celebrating Love as this months Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. It worked out perfect for me this month, as my card making class also requested a "love" theme this week. So I had no excuse but to pull out the hearts and get cracking.

As I tend to do for my class, I had to make a few different styles so my members had choice. Some may call me crazy (I guess I'm in the right team), but I usually give them options and then let them put their own twist on my examples.

This first one uses layers of hearts, which I cut out on my big shot, using heart framelits. The owl is quick and easy to make, using the owl punch. I wanted my cute little owl to sparkle, but I had no glimmer paper. Instead I used dazzling details to give it the extra something I was after.

This next card uses all the same colours, but is a standard size card. I decided that I would make my own sentiment "Happy day of love", just to be a little different from the standard Happy Valentines Day, after all that's part of the fun of handmade. I used the Little Letters framelits to give this card a little dimension.

The final card is a Z fold card, my first in fact. I used my heart emboslits and heart punches to create my decorations. I also used the "You brighten my Day" stamp set for all the stamping in this one. This stamp set is one of the freebies available during Sale-a-bration this year, when you purchace $90 AUS of Stampin' Up! products. If you haven't had a chance to look at the Sale-a-bration catalogue yet, feel free to click the link on the side of my blog and have a look.

I hope you enjoy the blog hop.
