INTERNATIONAL BLOG HIGHLIGHTS - THEME: BABY

Today I am joining in with the International Blog Highlights. The theme this time is: BABY.

Since the change over to the new Annual Catalogue I have not yet purchased any new baby specific stamp sets. Sometimes we don't realise just how versatile a stamp set is. I would never of thought to use Wood Words for a Baby, until I made this card.

The images in this set, along with the sentiments, opens the Wood Words Stamp Set up for so many uses.

SPECIAL BABY SHOWER

Sometime I make cards for fun, other times it is to join in with a challenge and then at times I create for a specific purpose. This time I created for a special baby shower that I am attending today. I gave myself a challenge to make the card using the Special Delivery suite, which is aimed for birthdays, for the baby shower card.

This whole suite ticks so many boxes for me. I love the images, I love the colours, I love the Designer Series Paper - I just love it all. On top of all that, matching framelits for the little critters!!!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD!!!

Both my husband and I come from reasonably big families. So what does this mean?

Well, it means babies!

We are expecting three so far this year and two could come at any time. So for a change I thought I would be organised and start making cards for the happy parents.

My nephew and his partner are expecting a baby girl. The nursery is all ready to go in lovely shades of purple. So using this knowledge, this is what I have made to celebrate her arrival.

I had a play with the new watercolour pencils in the 2017 Occasions catalogue. Before the release of the pencils I had never even picked up a watercolour pencil before. Although I am nowhere near an expert I am pretty happy with my results. They go on smoothly and are easy to blend with a blender pen. On top of the ease, I also find it very relaxing.

The elegant eggplant piece (the purple cardstock for those not familiar with Stampin' Up! colours) has been flicked with clear Wink of Stella to create a sparkly effect.

Strawberry Sketches #SS007

As you may know I do enjoy joining in with challenges when I get the time. The challenge this time comes from Strawberry Sketches #007.

Sketches are just a base from which to start. As in this one above, just because it shows a circle, it doesn't mean we have to use a circle, but we can if we choose to. It is all open to interpretation, we can rotate, replace or use it very literal.

It is my son's teachers' last day today as she is about to have a baby, so I thought I would use the sketch as a starting point for my card.

Baby Bear is a three step image. For this bear I used 3 shades of Bermuda Bay, which is created by stamping off on scratch paper.

Stamp Set:            Baby Bear (141859)
                             Thoughtful Banners (141614)
Ink:                       Bermuda Bay (131171)

                              Bermuda Bay (131286)

Little Baby - #GDP003

I find it very interesting how my mood changes what I choose to create with. The theme, Baby, doesn't often lead to someone picking up some black, white and tip top taupe DSP, but today it did.

Most people would focus on the blue, pinks or maybe even lemon colours, but not me today.

No cute images, just straight to the point with a little gold thrown in to celebrate the occasion.

So you may wonder if someone close to me is about to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet soon. The answer is, not that I know of this time. Today I am playing along with the Global Design Project challenge theme - Baby.

Once I put this card together I knew it needed a little something, so I popped on a gold button and added some white twine. A little element without being a gender choice. This card will sit in my stash waiting for the right opportunity to find a new home.
