Fun fishing - Punch Art

As it is still the crazy birthday month of July, today I have another birthday card for you. This time I tried my hand at punch art. Now I did try CASing (Copy And Share), I browsed Pintrest to see if I could find an image that I wanted. I found plenty, just nothing that I was after. I don't tend to use punch art a great deal, even when I am CASing, so this was a stretch.

Here is my first attempt at making my own punch art. Hope it gives you some inspiration to design your own. I would love to see it if you do. Feel free to add a link in the comments to any of your work.

To create the fishing rod I used the word window punch with Basic Black card stock. I then used Crumb Cake and cut a narrow piece of cardstock and with my trimmer I tapered it, to make one end slightly narrower than the other. The reel and top end of the rod were punched out of circles from the Owl Builder Punch. I made the hook by double cutting with the word window punch, also out of crumb cake cardstock. The worm was cut free hand to create its shape, then sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.

The fish was created out of Marina Mist and Smoky Slate card stock. I used the oval punch for the body, double punching the marina mist to create the shape I was after. The tail is from the small heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. The fin was from the same punch and cut in half. I used snips, to cut the mouth. No set way to do this, it was just another free hand aspect.

The background of this card uses images from Wetlands and Sprinkles of Life, with a touch of sponging of Pacific Point for the water.

Thank you for visiting my blog today,
Rosalie

The Crazy Crafters Blog Hop - Celebrating Love

Valentine's Day is in less than a week, so what would be more fitting than Celebrating Love as this months Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. It worked out perfect for me this month, as my card making class also requested a "love" theme this week. So I had no excuse but to pull out the hearts and get cracking.

As I tend to do for my class, I had to make a few different styles so my members had choice. Some may call me crazy (I guess I'm in the right team), but I usually give them options and then let them put their own twist on my examples.

This first one uses layers of hearts, which I cut out on my big shot, using heart framelits. The owl is quick and easy to make, using the owl punch. I wanted my cute little owl to sparkle, but I had no glimmer paper. Instead I used dazzling details to give it the extra something I was after.

This next card uses all the same colours, but is a standard size card. I decided that I would make my own sentiment "Happy day of love", just to be a little different from the standard Happy Valentines Day, after all that's part of the fun of handmade. I used the Little Letters framelits to give this card a little dimension.

The final card is a Z fold card, my first in fact. I used my heart emboslits and heart punches to create my decorations. I also used the "You brighten my Day" stamp set for all the stamping in this one. This stamp set is one of the freebies available during Sale-a-bration this year, when you purchace $90 AUS of Stampin' Up! products. If you haven't had a chance to look at the Sale-a-bration catalogue yet, feel free to click the link on the side of my blog and have a look.

I hope you enjoy the blog hop.
